The Grand Prix of Cleveland was held at the Burke Lakefront Airport, the runway turned into one of the widest, fastest, and most unique circuits in motorsports. The layout allowed for nonstop side by side racing. Fans liked it because they could see almost the entire track from the stands.

Drivers hated it due to bumpy concrete and brutal braking zones.

Denny Hamlin stated that 2027 will likely be his last season in NASCAR with JGR, the team he’s been with since 2005. He’s sitting at 61 wins after taking Las Vegas last weekend. However still no championship for the Hall of Famer he came within three laps of it last season before a late caution ended his shot. Hamlin made this announcement early so JGR can start planning around his exit and find a replacement . 🏁

Mercedes put the official title on what Bradley Lord was already doing: Deputy Team Principal after 13 years with the organization. Lord came up through communications, joining as comms manager in 2013 and working his way to chief communications officer before this appointment. Toto Wolff made clear his own role and responsibilities stay exactly the same.

Hunter Lawrence took his third win in four races in Birmingham, going on the attack early and never really looking back. Roczen worked his way up from 16th to finish second but lapped traffic kept cutting off any real chance to close the gap, crossing 2.3 seconds back. Tomac had a rough night, including a Last Chance Qualifier appearance for the first time since 2019, and finished third more than 30 seconds behind. Lawrence’s points lead over Tomac now sits at nine.

Antonio Felix da Costa won the inaugural Madrid E-Prix at Jarama for Jaguar with teammate Mitch Evans right behind him for a 1-2. The race was defined by Attack Mode activations and strategy reshuffling the order all afternoon, with da Costa and Gunther eventually emerging at the front before da Costa pulled away and immediately activated his final Attack Mode to protect the position. The final lap had nearly every driver burning their remaining Attack Modes simultaneously and the top four still ended up covered by less than a second at the line. ⚡
