The FIA World Endurance Championship confirmed that the season opener, originally scheduled for March 26–28 at Lusail International Circuit, will be moved to later in the year due to the evolving geopolitical situation in the Middle East. In its statement, WEC management emphasized that the safety and security of competitors, personnel, and fans remain the top priority.

The 2026 season will now begin with the 6 Hours of Imola in Italy on April 17–19. A revised date for Qatar will be announced in the second half of the season.
