Belgian Grand Prix; Kimi Antonelli and Mercedes extends championship lead, Ferrari follow close behind.

The weekend in Belgium was an interesting one. With some interesting calls during the race, to the overall result, it was anything but typical. When it rains, it pours and no, not in the literal sense this year.

Kimi Antonelli continued to extend his gap in the championship to his teammate with yet another win in the 2026 season. The car proved extremely helpful to Antonelli but was the complete opposite for his teammate. George Russell had a tough result, with another DNF after an incident with Lewis Hamilton on the opening lap. Russell had been complaining of no power and difficulty with battery, and this would ultimately cause his DNF result.

Ferrari had another impressive weekend. Charles Leclerc added another podium to his belt in the 2026 season, finishing P2, behind Antonelli. The Monegasque driver had a great drive, despite an incident with Oscar Piastri on lap 8, which resulted in damage on the McLaren driver’s car. Lewis Hamilton was faced with a difficult race, after the opening lap incident with Russell resulted in a 5 second penalty, when serving said penalty an incident occurred with one of the mechanics, who was hit by the car. This left a cloud over Hamilton’s race result, but after ruling that as a fine to the team, Hamilton was able to maintain his P4 finish.

McLaren had a bit of a slow race. With Lando Norris starting out in P13 after a penalty for new components, there was a lot of places to be made up for him. Even with the worries of starting further back, Norris was able to finish slightly further behind his teammate Oscar Piastri, who did have damage and was losing downforce, so the pair ultimately was able to finish P5 for Piastri and P7 for Norris.

Redbull were able to get another podium for their quiet 2026 season, with Max Verstappen securing P3. It was a quiet weekend for Max, who was able to get very close to Kimi Antonelli during qualifying, with the assistance of his teammate. Isack Hadjar was forced to start from the back of the grid after changing components and receiving a 30-place penalty. Despite where he started, Hadjar drove a spectacular race to finish P6, splitting the two McLaren drivers.

Audi were able to bag some more vital points for the constructor’s championship, with Gabriel Bortoleto securing a top 10 finish, finishing in P8. His teammate Nico Hulkenberg struggled during the race and only managed to finish P13 despite his best efforts.

Vcarb were looking at a double points finish in Spa, but with Alpine putting up a brilliant fight, they only managed to get one into the top 10. Arvid Lindblad showed his capability as the young rookie, securing P9. Liam Lawson unfortunately couldn’t get himself back into the top 10, having to finish P12.

Alpine were the duo able to split the Vcarb duo for the race. Franco Colapinto managed to secure the final points finish, ending up P10. Pierre Gasly has been having some on and off weekends and Spa was one of them, with a solid battle with his teammate at one point, Gasly was forced to settle for no points, finishing P11.

Alpines drivers were able to have a solid drive in Belgium.

Williams are ones that fans expected to be having a better season, and currently it is looking quite underwhelming. Carlos Sainz was only able to manage to finish P16, whilst Alex Albon would finish just ahead of his teammate in P15.

Esteban Ocon faces growing concern over his career and where his future lies, yet another race he was forced to finish behind his teammate. Ocon would finish P17, whilst his teammate Oliver Bearman had a better result, finishing in the mid-pack in P14.

Aston Martin were facing another tough race. The team itself, seem to be facing issues that cannot be fixed and there is growing concern around the capability of the team. Lance Stroll was a DNF for Aston Martin, whilst Fernando Alonso was able to complete the race, but was lapped twice and finished P19.

Fernando Alonso faced a difficult weekend with a late penalty forcing him to the back of this grid.

Cadillac continue to face issues and concerns as the new guys on the block. Sergio Perez was another DNF from the race with issues around the suspension on his Cadillac. His teammate Valtteri Bottas managed to finish the race and ended up P18.
