NTI Townsville 500: A weekend full of pitlane dramas, as well as race chaos.

We returned after the Triple Crown and headed to Townsville. The races were full of chaos, errors and interesting results.

Race 20:

It was a strong race result for Tickford Racing as Cam waters managed another win in the 2026 season after taking the lead from Kostecki. His teammate Thomas Randle qualifying strong and staying P6 throughout the race.

Brodie Kostecki was following Waters very closely with only 2 tenths separating them on the final lap. Kostecki managed to finish P2, with his teammate Rylan Gray struggling during the race and only managing P17.

Penrite Racing had a strong weekend too, coming into Townsville as the leaders in the constructor’s championship. It was a strong first race for the duo, finishing on the podium in P3 for Matt Payne, whilst teammate Kai Allen did well starting P6 and working to maintain P4 in the race.

Walkinshaw have had a mixed results season so far, with the car switches, but have still managed to score solid points. Chaz Mostert had a strong result in the first race, starting in P4 and ending up P5, whilst Ryan Wood was a bit further down having started in P7 and finishing in P8.

RedBull Ampol Racing came into the weekend looking for a comeback. Whilst they may not have got exactly that, they still scored good points. The duo had a tough qualifying with Broc Feeney starting P16, and Will Brown starting down in P19. Despite all this, Will Brown had a much better result in the race and managed to finish P7, whilst teammate Broc Feeney had a difficult start to the weekend only managing to finish P10.

Broc Feeney had a tough weekend in Townsville looking to bounce back in Perth this weekend.

Jayden Ojeda was our final top 10 finisher for Race 20. The young driver has had a solid start to his Supercars career, with improvements being made every race weekend.

Race 21:

Matt Payne had a strong weekend with positive results all round. He managed to qualify just behind Kostecki in P2. Payne was able to pull away and begin the long fight to the end of the race, where he would finish P1.

Coming from just outside of the top 10 in P11, Anton De Pasquale had his work cut out for him in the race. With the costly error from Dick Johnson Racing, De Pasquale was able to get past without worrying about an on-track battle and go on to finish P2.

Brodie Kostecki took out pole position in the Top 10 Shootout but with a costly mistake during the race in the pitlane with a slow stop, he would drop out of the winning position and go on to finish P3.

Tickford continued their record of good results as Cam Waters and Thomas Randle finished in P4 and P5 during the race. Waters was able to make up a position on his teammate, whilst Randle did drop out of the top 3, but still maintained a top 5 finish.

RedBull Ampol Racing begun their move for good points in Townsville. After neither driver finished in the top 10, it was a difficult race for the pair, but despite those odds, they were able to get into good point scoring positions. Will Brown started in P12, and managed to get to P6, whilst Broc Feeney started P18, and made up 10 positions to finish P8 in the race.

The final 3 drivers were all fighting for their teams in the top 10. Chaz Mostert gave Walkinshaw a good result finishing P7 after starting P9. Jack LeBroqc carried the Matt Stonr Racing team to a positive result finish P9, having started well outside the top 10 in P20. Finally, David Reynolds showed his capability and helped Team 18 to a double points finish, ending up P10.

Race 22:

Brodie Kostecki finished the weekend off strong with another win in Townsville. After starting P2, behind Waters he was looking to redeem himself after the race start on Friday and managed to do so.

Matt Payne and Kai Allen continued to extend their lead in the championship with another double points finish. Matt Payne had a successful weekend in Townsville, finishing P2 in race 22. Kai Allen worked hard, despite losing positions he was still able to finish P3.

After starting on Pole, it was all to play for Cam Waters and unfortunately it didn’t pay off. Losing 2 positions in the race, Waters was forced to settle and finish P3. His teammate struggled and couldn’t quite make it into the top 10, with Randle finishing in P11.

Walkinshaw completed the weekend with a double point scoring opportunity and both finishing in the top 5. Chaz Mostert worked hard, gaining 2 positions with one being his young teammate, going on to finish P4. Ryan Wood did lose a position to Mostert but still finished strong in P5.

RedBull Ampol Racing also finished the weekend on a high. Both drivers managed to get into the top 10. Broc Feeney had his best result from the tough weekend, finish in P6, just behind Ryan Wood. After a horror qualifying session saw him drop down to P19, Will Brown managed to climb back into the top 10, finishing P8 just behind Kai Allen.

The last two were Matt Stone Racing's Jack LeBroqc who had a very strong and impressive weekend in Townsville for himself. He managed to finish in P9, having made up 6 positions as well. Finally, Jayden Ojeda managed another top 10 result. The young driver providing PremiAir Racing vital results.
